LOTS OF FIRSTS
Besides this being our first child, we have had a lot of firsts during the last 2 days. We have traveled over 36 hours straight that is defiantly a first for both of us… we have taken 4 different planes in 3 different countries. There are moments of complete peace and times of asking the Lord to grant us perseverance. Praying, keeping busy and imagining holding Avi Joy helped get us through. Also our airline, EVA was just perfect!
I have a new respect for our social worker Jynger who has made this flight 3 times in the last 4 months and also have a new respect for any missionary or business person who whisks off to the other side of the world. Its something, I really don’t have the words for it, but we are now 12 hours different than Tulsa time and are on the other side of the world.
Another first, this is the first time in my life (N) that my ears did not bother me one bit on a plane. In a journey like this, this was Huge to me and I am soooo thankful that I was enjoying a plane ride without the physical torture of my ears pinching.
This is the first time in our lives that we are a minority. Yes, the people here notice that we are white! Sitting in the Taipei airport there was only a small handful of us white-folk.
In the morning we are going to wake up and drive 6-8 hours to her orphanage. We will meet her for the first time (along with 4 other couples from the states meeting there children as well.) The following day, Thursday, we will have our giving and receiving ceremony and will adopt her formally. We are not sure we will have internet access while we are lying on the beach of Ninh Thuan J so we will post as soon as we can. (She is going to look so cute in that bikini!)
The biggest blessing on this trip BY FAR is defiantly traveling with Michael and Heather Homan, there is noting better than a friend with you during a time like this, their daughter Sarah will be getting a big hug and kiss from her parents tomorrow. They are wonderful and we just adore them!
Somethin’ Funny: Adam saw a sign in the restroom in Taipei, Taiwan that said, “Do not set babies on the ground for rats and coach-roaches will eat them.” Serious.
My thought for today, I cannot think about my whole time in Vietnam or my mind explodes, I only have enough grace to handle this moment and I am enjoying it. P.G.!
We LOVE you and thank you for your continued prayers while we are on this trip. We will put pictures and video on our site soon.
