This morning we headed to the orphanage to pick up our children and their care-takers. We drove to The Department of Justice where we all sat in a room with the orphanage director, the adoption coordinator, the director of the justice department and a couple people from the People’s Committee.
We each stood in front of everyone and signed documents legally making them our children. The caretakers then handed us our babies and we shook everyone’s hand and everyone clapped. Avi Joy was very hungry and fussy so we went first and no care giver actually stood up with us, so Adam and I just took turns signing and holding her. We have lots of things on video to share, we will try to put some clips for you to see now, but we will show everyone our whole journey when we get home.
We are now in our hotel room, we changed her and are now just hanging out. She is very happy, smiley, wiggly, likes both of us, she loves kisses and loves being played with, and she told us that she loves all of you!
She has a small cough, so a doctor is coming by today to check her out. Adam will head out later today to the immigration office to get her visa/passport. All the women are going to get together and play.
We wanted to share some more funny Vietnamese things. The white lines on the streets are just a suggestion. The traffic does what it wants, when it wants, motorbikes are everywhere and have up to 4 people/children on them sometimes. They where masks on their face because of pollution. People have the right-away, so crazy people just walk out in front of buses and hold up their hand, we have almost hit people, motorbikes and a cow. Its fun.
Both Heather and I got peed-on by our children. They do not where diapers at the orphanage, they just go in their pants and the pants are washed instead of diapers. I felt a warm gush and I was soaked. It was very hot though so our clothes dried fast.
Thank you for all your postings, they made us smile and tear-up. xoxo
