DAY FOUR

Last night before bed we had to have dinner with the orphanage director and staff, there were about 20+ people there, not including the families. It is custom to drink in celebration, so Adam tried a Heineken (sp) and remembers now why he doesn’t like it, but they thought it was funny.

We had the day off today so we went swimming and then all the families took a tour of a place called Quan Di Tich, the Cham Towers.  It is a small palace from the 14th century where a king lived. It is on a mountain and we could see Ninh Thuan in 360 degrees.

To get to the Towers we had to go through the village and saw the ‘real’ side of Vietnam. Everyone was outside making food, pigs and dogs roamed the streets and school children were all riding their bikes. It started to rain on us, so we got to run through the rain to a little shop and we got to talk with 4 workers. They shared their fruit with us and we took pictures of them and showed them on the camera, they though it was cool.

After our tour we went to The Market. This was an EXPERIENCE, to say the very least. We were the sight to see, everyone ran to us, touched our babies and were speaking Vietnamese to us like we knew what they were saying. They were obsessed with us and followed us throughout the whole Market. There were all kinds of fruit stands, material shops, raw fish being cut and tons & tons of old women wanting to hit our children on the arms, a custom. The young girls kept touching Adam’s arms because they wanted to see what he felt like and what his arm hair felt like, being blond.

We have been enjoying the food, the restaurant here has a large selection, we are going to share a few items that are on the menu, exactly as it reads…

-          Minced Sand-Lizard with Aromatics

-          Sautéed Bindweed with Fermented Beancurd

-          Various Kinds of Raw Seafood Dipped in Steamboat

-          Fish and Fermented Bamboo Shoot in Hot Pot

We have been getting things like white rice with yellow noodles, fried shrimp, seafood soups and stirfried beef, these are more pleasing to us as you can imagine.

Avi Joy is perfect in every way, she loves being dressed, bath-time, she is on a great schedule, loves to eat, sleeps well and we love her!

One more free day and back Ho Chi Minh City.

Natasha, What a beautiful angel you have! She looks just so content. She just knows that her mom and dad are with her now. She's been so patiently waiting for you both. I brought up the pictures at home w/ Abi in my lap (if someone is in the computer chair, she thinks she must be there too) anyway, when we viewed the picture of Avi giggling Abi lunged at the monitor saying baa-by, baa-by, baa-by. I've never seen her react quite so expressively. I think she's discovered a new friend. We all can't wait to see her in person and hug and kiss her!

Hi there, enjoying day 4&5 photos! especially bath time for Avi Joy, so cute a face! I was able to view video #6 of Avi Joy exercising, WOW... so limber, and the stamina, incredible, it all seemed so effortless! I was also able to view (sorta) video #9 of Adam changing a diaper for the First Time Ever... BUT... right when Adam starts to lower himself to the floor to change the anxiously awaiting Avi Joy for 'someone' to please change her poopy diaper, all of a sudden a pc error window displays "Buffer Overrun Detected! Must Terminate Video Now!"... Adam, what is up with that?? Are you that tech savvy to get out of video-ing your First diaper change?? (your good!) Oh well, I'll just wait to see it LIVE for the first time, we'll see who's laughing then!!! I'm sure Avi Joy eventually got cleaned up, and positive a Big Smile is on her Pretty little face. Much Love... Granpa Ken

Joshua and Bethany say hi and can't wait to play with Avi Joy! I had a dream last night about Avi Joy. She just smiled at me and wanted to take a nap on me, laying her sweet head on my shoulder. Hey guys! I have been thinking about all three of you so much this weekend! I am so happy for you all, and I love the fact that I can check up on you via the website. Thanks for keeping us all posted! Some things I must say: I am so happy that you got peed on (a rite of passage, I think), the bath time picture is the cutest EVER, and I cannot believe that old ladies want to hit your daughter. You're going to have so many stories to tell, I CAN'T WAIT. We'll keep praying for quick paperwork and a safe trip home. See you soon!!
