Day 11

Our flight to Hanoi went well. The people on the plane were really nice to tell me what Avi Joy needed when she was screaming. : ) They pointed to her bottle and said things to me that we didn’t understand, I had to plaster a smile. But other than that few minutes she slept soundly.
We all saw something on the plane ride that we had never seen before… On the screens overhead the pilots showed the take-off and landing. We saw them driving down the runway and then up into the air all the way to the clouds, then when we began to decent they showed it all the way until we reached the ground. It was really neat to see out the front window instead of just from the side.
My grandpa Harold would love this country because it is a toothpick place. After a meal, everyone chews on a toothpick. The airline served us a meal and afterward we were the only ones in sight who did not have a toothpick in our mouth.
All the families are starting to speak broken English. We now say things like, “Where bathroom at?” “Baby, Vietnam” “You help” “Give good price.” The funniest misunderstanding that I had was in Ninh Thuan. I called the front desk to order a vacuum (we had some ants coming into the room) and the man said oh you order ice cream, I transfer you to food, I kept saying no- vacuum, he said, oh ice cream, finally we both just busted out laughing and he said he would send someone to my room to check on me.
We are hoping for our exit interview M-W of this week. After our interview with their government we can head home. The thing is is that we are not guaranteed it this week, we hope so very very much, but the last 2 families had to wait the additional week for the next Monday. We are all prepared to wait, but we all have prayed to go home. We will wait and see!!!
To the ‘friends’ who gave us an anonymous donation before we left, thank you so much! Our hotel in Hanoi was much more than expected and that has enabled us to be able to stay here, it will also help if we have to stay an additional week. Xoxo, thank you!
We will head for Ha Long Bay tomorrow; it is about 2 or more hours from here and is now considered the eighth wonder of the world. It is a floating city, floating market and you have to do everything by boat. It is supposed to be so beautiful and nested in between rocks. Talk to you tomorrow.
