We have GREAT NEWS. The American consulate called and moved our exit interview from Wednesday to Tuesday, this means that even if our Visas take one or two days we can still leave on Thursday. We will travel from Hanoi-Taipei-San Francisco-Chicago-Tulsa… We will arrive in Tulsa on Friday morning, we will be sending details on times and flights once they are completely confirmed.
It’s going to be weird when we actually come home. It seems like we are living in a five family commune. We do everything together which is so wonderful, but I’m trying to picture what it is going to be like with just and Avi Joy and I at home, without the hustle and bustle of the Vietnamese lifestyle and Adam going back to work. It will be a blessing to have our family with us during our jet lag adjustment and to help us settle in with our new baby, I am sure it will be like pulling teeth to get them to want to be with Avi.
We shopped till we dropped today. We have bought many, many gifts for family and friends and are so excited to hand out these gifts from Avi Joy’s homeland. The items here are just beautiful, but I am not going to say anymore- you will just have to wait and see them in person.
Everything in the Vietnamese culture seems to be related to an animal. On our tours we have heard of mountains being carved out like dragons, historical documents printed on tortoises for long life, stalactites shaped as lion’s mouths and rocks pecking like chickens. There is a grand story behind everything!!! From our American point of view, it’s a little odd to compare everything to an animal with a story and from a spiritual point of view it is sad that they do not give praise to Him who made the mountains, animals and rivers. “Let every creature praise His holy name for ever and ever.” Psalm 145:21
Avi Joy is feeling much better along with all the other children as well. We took her to an International Medical Clinic and asked them about some antibiotics that we brought with us from her pediatrician and they said to go ahead and use them. She is sooooo much better, she woke up with a smile for the first time in days! Thank you Jesus!
We are headed to catch the train to Sapa, its going to be a shot of cold weather in the village, like 65 degrees. We are looking forward to the people groups and spending the weekend on our little vacation within a vacation.
