We went by taxi to the U.S. Consulate for our interview. We went into a room where there were three American workers behind a glass partition. They asked us to sit down and began asking us lots of questions. Some of the questions included, how many children were at the orphanage, how many care-takers, did you meet the orphanage director and how did we find out she was up for adoption. They were typing our answers as we spoke and it was somewhat intimating. The final thing they said was, “We have approved your adoption.” That was all we needed to hear to smile and are ready to come home!

It’s a beautiful rainy day in Hanoi. We relaxed in the morning and have been continuing to pack and organize everything to get it all home safely. A few things we will miss… eating out cheaply, laundry service, the maids fixing the beds and giving us new towels, lots of down time as a family, wild trips to villages, wait staff taking care of our children while we eat, walking everywhere, spending millions of dong and the spirit of Vietnam.

What were excited about this Friday is eating American foods, being able to cook, drive with traffic laws, family, friends, our own bed, Mexican food, not having to barter, our dogs and we really miss our church. I am sure you are waiting to kiss Avi Joy, she is ready and waiting! If you cannot make it to the airport, that is OK, no big deal!!! We have families and friends who’ve had baby’s born in the hospital and we couldn’t make it the day they arrived, but we got to love on them later… We will be out and about very soon and we will get together. (we will post our arrival time soon, almost positive it will be around 8am on Friday morning)

One family is leaving Wed night and the other 4 families are leaving Thrus night. We are going to have a final dinner together tonight and take pictures of our children together. We are also going to make lots of lists. Such as, what we wish we would have brought, what we wish we didn’t pack, our favorite things to do, changes that need to be made, what gifts would be best for the social workers and orphanage and other things too. I am sure it may be boring info to some and to others it will be like honey to your excited soul.

Tomorrow we are going to take a tour of the Hanoi Hilton (the Vietnam prison) and then in the afternoon we are going to pick up our visas! The butterflies are beginning!
